Sunset, Dusk & Evening

Labor Day came… and I took 3 days off!  How radical is that?

I canceled my usual schedule and got spontaneous. I did exactly what I felt like doing. There were impromptu trips to visit the marsh at sunset and watching big surf crash over the road at high tide in Wells. It was great!  I am once again reminded why I live here. I can go on vacation for a few hours and feel like I’ve really been away for a long time.
And even though the sun is setting earlier its actually helping me out. I don’t have to stay out till 9 pm to paint sunset. I can paint till 7:30 and call it a day. I am having fun with my new late day series! I am creating a whole bunch of sunset, dusk and evening paintings that I want to have all around me. I want my whole house to be bathed in the feeling of warm glowing light. And I’m just getting started…
I love painting outdoors in the late afternoon and evening. The light and the colors are so warm and soft.  Now I am going to keep that light and color and make it last !  I was in York Harbor one evening and the next one I was at Parsons Beach. I easily have over a dozen locations near by that are fabulous. Each location has its particular flavor and distinctive beauty. I usually paint 5-8 small paintings each evening. I am intent on capturing the different stages of sunset, dusk and evening. The colors are amazing. I’m using these small studies for larger paintings I create in the studio. I never know what I’m going to bring home. Some of these small ones are looking so good they will be framed after I am finished using them.

So here’s a toast to small ones and big ones. Every size I can think of.  I want to surround myself with warmth and glowing beauty. Yes, there will be enough so some of these will be available for sale. I do have a few exhibitions coming up in November and December.

And yes my new e course is coming along.  We will be releasing some bonus pre-launch videos soon. I will let you know when they are up on YouTube and Vimeo where you can watch them.  If you subscribe to my YouTube page you will receive a notice when each one is published.  Here is the link to my page.
