This plein air series was inspired by watching the huge waves crashing as a nor'easter swept out to sea at the Nubble Lighthouse in Cape Neddick, Maine.
These Tonalist paintings were made with watercolor and gouache on archival paper using the direct painting method with little or no line drawing in the execution.
The Haiku Collection is a series of small studies painted on location en plein air or from my sketchbooks or memory. I use these studies to create large paintings in the studio.
